Self-care is so important. As many can relate however, our lives get busy, and instead of treating ourselves, we spend our money and time on other obligations.

Professional teeth whitening has always been on the "treat yo-self" list for me, but life gets in the way, and I'm always telling myself I’ll get to it later. That’s why when Smile Brilliant reached out to me to try their at home professional whitening kit, I was THRILLED! I can finally get those pearly whites I’ve been wanting so badly, even better, I can do it at home?! Sign me up!! I'll mention here, I have tried whitening toothpaste, strips, and other at home remedies, but wasn’t very impressed with the results, which is why I was looking for something on the professional whitening side of things.
The Smile Brilliant kit
Step 1- Making Impressions:
When the whitening kit arrives at your doorstep, the first step is to make impressions of your teeth to be sent back to the lab, which in turn will create the personal trays for whitening. All of the supplies to make the impressions are supplied in the package.

Making the impressions is easy (the kit comes with several instruction forms, so don't let that overwhelm you). Simply mix the catalyst with the base paste, and spread it throughout one of the two trays. Take the tray and place it in your mouth, pressing your teeth into the material. Hold the impression in place for about 3 minutes or until the material has hardened. Ensure that impressions are good to go, and then repeat with your other set of teeth.

If you happen to mess up (Which I did) don’t sweat it, the kit comes with one extra set of paste. Additionally, if you're unsure your impressions are going to make the cut, you can email a photo to a company representative, and they can give you the green light. Lastly, there are several guides that are included in the kit with helpful hints and instructions to make sure your impressions turn out perfect.

The kit comes with a prepaid envelope, which is used to send your impressions to the lab, and they will return your custom trays in about a week!

Step 2-Whitening:
Whitening is also a pretty simple process. In the kit there are 2 types of syringes. The first being the whitening syringes (which I'm sure you would have never guessed, is to whiten your teeth). The second syringe is desensitizing gel. The desensitizing gel helps with sensitivity after whitening, as well as preventing re-staining. I have very sensitive teeth, so this was crucial.

After you have brushed (with water only) and dried your teeth, you will fill both the upper and lower trays with a thin layer of whitening gel and place them in your mouth.  The trays can be left in anywhere from 45 minutes up to 3 hours.

Once it's time to take the trays out, brush your teeth one more time, this time with toothpaste. You will also wash out the trays out and dry them to be used again with the desensitizing gel. The process for the desensitizing gel is the same as the whitening gel, however you only leave this in for about 15-20 minutes.

The whole process in total can be done in a little over an hour. I preferred to do my whitening at night while watching TV, after a little while you forget they are even in there (and to be honest, it helped keep me from eating any late night munchies 😂). Either way, it's so simple to do, and you can do just about anything while the trays are in.

Results:
I did notice a difference in the color of my teeth after just a few uses, which continued throughout the whole process. I would say the whitening is noticeable, but nothing extremely drastic (think back to the episode of Friends when Ross whitens his teeth....it was nothing like that). I would also say this is something that needs to be kept up with. Once I was done with all of my syringes, the whitening began to fade a little bit over time (still a big improvement from where I started). I would recommend buying more syringes and using them a week or two before an event to ensure your teeth are as white as can be for the occasion.

Why I love Smile Brilliant:
There are a ton of reasons why I love Smile Brilliant. First and foremost, I love that you can whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home. That means no having to fit appointments into your busy schedule.

Like I mentioned before, I've tried so many other whitening solutions, but I never seemed to achieve the whitening success with these products like I did with the Smile Brilliant kit.

The cost of Smile Brilliant is so reasonable. For only $150 you get your trays and syringes (thats 9+ sessions). With smile Brilliant, you are not only saving time, you're saving money as well!

Lastly, I really appreciated how helpful the company is. Before even receiving the kit, I went over with a company rep. any dental history, and spoke about any concerns I may have to decide if the kit was right for me. Throughout the whole process, I was able to reach out with any questions or concerns I may have had. My rep even checked in on me from time to time to see how it was going. I really value a company that is good at communicating and that's just what Smile Brilliant does.

Thanks to Smile Brilliant, I was able to finally treat myself and give myself that extra boost of confidence. I think its time we all take a step back from our busy schedule and treat ourselves a little more. This is why Smile Brilliant and I are treating one of my lucky followers to a free kit of their own (a $150 value!). Just like the whitening kit, the giveaway is so simple, all you need to do is fill out the form on the link below and your entered to win!
